‘Jericho’ to be revived by Netflix?

Netflix is in talks with CBS to revive cult drama Jericho.

The series – which starred Skeet Ulrich and Lennie James – followed the residents of the fictional town of Jericho, Kansas, as they struggle to survive in the aftermath of nuclear attacks on the US.

CBS originally axed the show in 2007 after one season, but later reversed their decision following a fan campaign. After a seven-part second run, Jericho was canceled once again due to low ratings.

Netflix has now approached CBS TV Studios about the possibility of a third season, reports TV Guide.

The move is fuelled by the success of Jericho repeats on Netflix’s on-demand service, four years after the show’s second cancellation.

Netflix is also producing a revival of axed Fox comedy Arrested Development, and was reportedly in talks to pick up ABC’s low-rating supernatural drama The River.

In March, the company declined the chance to produce a second season of canceled Fox drama Terra Nova.

A reborn ‘Jericho’ may join ‘Arrested Development’ on Netflix: report

Pass the nuts — the cult-favorite TV series “Jericho” may be coming back.

Netflix is in talks with CBS TV Studios to bring back the show — set in a small Kansas town in the aftermath of a series of nuclear attacks that decimate the United States — that went off the air in 2008 after its second season, TV Guide reported.

The streaming video site is fresh off a deal to revive the critically-beloved, but ratings-challenged “Arrested Development” for a fourth season next year. The series may even film another two seasons for Netflix if the experiment works, series creator Mitch Hurwitz has said.

Netflix has also added the original series “House of Cards,” from Kevin Spacey and David Fincher, to its budding slate.

After “Jericho,” which starred Skeet Ulrich, Lennie James and Ashley Scott, was initially canceled, the show was given a stay of execution for another seven episodes after fans of the show sent 20 tons of peanuts to CBS.

The gesture was a nod to a line from the show.

Since its cancellation, “Jericho” has resurfaced as a comic book series, and the show’s executive producer Jon Turteltaub attempted to develop a movie in 2009, according to TV Guide.
